The brief on this project was to provide a solution that would cut down the heat loss from the house through the attached double garage.
The existing doors were single skin steel up & over type doors. This type of door has a gap between the door and the door frame allowing a draught of cold air to blow into the garage, this in turn can have a chilling effect on rooms adjoining the garage.
The solution was to use two of our Ryterna R40 40mm insulated steel sectional garage doors with the Ryterna aluminium frame system. The doors panels are constructed from two skins of high quality steel with a centre core of expanded PU foam giving excellent strength and excellent insulation. The four sides of the door are closed off with effective rubber draught seals and each panel joint is also sealed.
With the type of doors agreed the style was then specified, in this case Ryterna’s Flush Slick Plus style was chosen with a laminated golden oak woodgrain finish. Automation with built-in locking was added for security as there is interconnection from the garage to the house.
The result is a garage with a great new look and a home that is a warmer place to live, the client reports that their two pet cats who sleep in the garage now have to be woken in the morning rather than them rushing to get out of the cold!
